An Instagram grid takeover.

With the announcement of the inaugural Ticketmaster Touring Milestone Awards, we wanted to do something BIG. This was the perfect opportunity for our very first Instagram grid takeover.

The final suite consisted of 1 announcement post, 17 top global tours recognized, and a Photoshop file with over 600 layers.

The thought process behind having the artist name, tour name and amount of tickets sold animate in stemmed from viewing the grid holistically. That would have been an insane amount of information to see all at once (trust me, I saw the Photoshop file). Plus, this allowed us to be playful and give each artist their own spotlight and a bit of flair with unique illustrations.

Though I wasn’t the person *animating the final designs, I had to think like an animator in terms of timing and layering when setting up my Photoshop files. I had one massive 18 tiled grid file that I used for ideation, placing the photos I had sourced for layout context, plugging in all of the data, and topping it off with the final touches of illustration. Once those designs were finalized, I broke them apart into individual files to make the animation handoff bit easier.

The collaborative team effort that went into this project was massive. The data team was able to pull all of the numbers, the copy team wrote some great tidbits about each tour, and the social team was able to dissect all of these crazy videos and schedule the final pieces to post on our social channels.

This project definitely tested my creative problem solving abilities, and I’m extremely proud of how it turned out.
