Society6 and I have gotten to know each other pretty well over the years.
I started a Society6 shop in 2012, but didn’t actually upload anything until early 2017. (I honestly don’t know why I waited so long). Since then, I have had the pleasure of working with Society6 on some commission projects and licensing opportunities on top of frequently adding new work to my shop.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?
A feature in Society6’s brand video and artist spotlight.
I work a full time gig and I'm so thankful to have Society6 as an outlet to not only share my personal art, but also to produce it. As a wise woman once said, "Ain't nobody got time for that," and I just literally don't have the time to work, create, print, ship, handle customer service AND have a social life. My brain might explode.
Society6 makes it easy for me to focus on what makes me happy: being creative. And for that I couldn't love them more.
All of that being said, I of course screamed YES at the chance to be featured in their 2020 brand video. Huge thank you to Scott Fluhler (Writer/Producer/Project Manager), Alicia Peugh (Sr. Artist Community Manager), Adam Valenica (Cameraman), and the rest of the Society6 team for always being awesome.
A limited edition skateboard collaboration.
Society6 does some really rad limited edition runs of products, and in 2018 one of those products was skateboards! Myself and five other designers had a fun opportunity to design a board for sale around the holiday season only. I’m personally not a skater, so my “COOL IT” board now hangs over the AC in my apartment. (Get it?)
Society6/Deny Designs for Urban Outfitters.
Deny Designs is a parent company of Society6 – they handle more of the wholesale side of things. So when they approached me for a potential licensing deal with Urban Outfitters I said heck yes! UO has picked up four of my designs across four product types: art prints, yoga mats, notebooks and stickers.
I was the very first contributor to their artist playlist series. (What an honor!)
January 2020 kicked off Society6’s artist playlist series. Each month, they feature a new artist and highlight some of their favorite music to jam out to as they create. You can listen to my Society6 playlist here.
As a follow up to the playlist, Society6 requested a collage. The ask was "to feature the list of songs from the curated playlist in my style". I'm super, super stoked with how this piece turned out, but am bummed that the original intended use got 2020-ed (are we using that as a verb yet?). Any-who, I was too excited about this piece to not share it so here it is! (Shared with permission from Society6).
